Applications now open for the Workforce Development Innovation Fund

Posted on Fri 31st May, 2019

Employers looking to change the way they offer their services can apply for funding to help them do that through the Workforce Development Innovation Fund (WDIF) which is now open.

The fund is specifically designed to support innovative projects increase the skills and knowledge of workers as they develop new ways of offering services that can only improve the quality of care provided to those who need care and support.

Skills for Care Interim CEO Andy Tilden said:

Adult social care is an ever-changing landscape and as our population gets older and lives longer different needs are emerging almost daily.

That means the way services work will need to change too so this fund can really help in developing new and innovative ways of working collaboratively by developing the skills and knowledge of the workforce.

Projects funded by the 2019-20 WDIF must meet one of the four priorities:

  • Priority 1: to test an approach to develop capacity for Registered Nurses to support and supervise pre-registration nursing associates and return to practice nurses, within an ethical and safe learning culture.
  • Priority 2: enhance the impact of your registered manager network.
  • Priority 3: developing future registered managers: supporting deputies and aspiring managers to progress.
  • Priority 4: improve the working practices between social care and health workforces in support of integrated working.

The deadline for applications is 1pm on Friday 28 June 2019.
