What is The Care Certificate?

The Care Certificate was commissioned by the Department of Health and developed in partnership by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health.

From April 2015, it will replace the Common Induction Standards (CIS) and National Minimum Training Standards (NMTS).

Our syllabus includes Safer People Handling!

Regulated providers of health and care services will need to update and adapt their induction programmes to accommodate the requirements of the Care Certificate.

If you are an employer, then it is your responsibility to ensure your staff have completed a thorough induction so that they have the right skills and knowledge to undertake their job role. The Care Certificate is just one part of the overall induction programme.

Anyone starting in the health or social care sectors must complete the Care Certificate. This means health care assistants, assistant practitioners, care support workers and anyone supporting clinical roles in the NHS where they have direct contact with patients. It also includes adult social care workers providing direct care in residential and nursing homes and hospices, plus home care workers.

Caring volunteers, cooks, drivers and any other employees that have direct contact with patients and service users may also undertake all or some of the Care Certificate.

Our Care Certificate Mandatory Induction package is a training course that has been specifically designed by The Care School to fulfil the Common Induction Standards, National Minimum Training Standards for Care Workers and the NEW Care Certificate, as recommended by the Cavendish Report in the most cost effective and practical way possible.

Our Care Certificate Induction training course covers the 15 mandatory care certificate subjects, it gives you the essential knowledge evidence you need to start working in care, and we have included Safer People Handling training into our 4 day classroom course. On completion of the course you are ready to be observed within your place of work. This ensures care staff complete their mandatory induction training in the most efficient way possible.

Our Care Certificate training programme is also mapped to QCF units allowing training to be accredited towards the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care QCF or the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care QCF.
